Nexus Telecom Nexus 8610 Load Test Platform Print E-mail

The Nexus Telecom Nexus 8610 platform offers a full solution for load testing from the access network and the core network side of the GMSC/IMG MGW/MGCF. i.e. both for broadband and narrowband SS7, and for IMS.

The Nexus 8610 is a distributed load test platform using central control of multiple test servers, to coordinate and synchronize testing of multiple interfaces from End to End.

Testing from the core network side involves testing specifically from the following interfaces:

For data services, sourcing traffic generation is provided for the following interfaces:

  • Gi, Gn, Gp, Gr, Gs, Gc, Gd, Ge and Gf

These core network load test solutions will be offered through the Nexus 8610 platform. MSC and SGSN emulation will also be offered as an option, generating load at IuCS as well as IuPS interfaces.

Interfaces Supported

The following physical interfaces to SUT Nodes are supported:

  • RF/Uu
  • TDM T1
  • Optical
  • Ethernet

Long Term Evolution

The Nexus 8610 will support eNodeB and MME simulations, as currently indicated on the roadmap.

Load Performance Capabilities

The Nexus 8610 is capable of generating more than 380,000 calls per hour, without speech test, per 2Mbps test module.

Per module performance provided on Gi, Gn and Gp for each interface is:

  • Up to 80Mbps user plane data throughput (1,000 byte UDP packets) in uplink and downlink directions
  • Up to 50Mbps user plane data throughput (600 byte UDP packets) in uplink and downlink directions
  • Multi-subscriber allowing execution of complex scenarios with up to 400,000 simulated subscribers

Extra test modules extend this performance.

Node B Simulation

  • Simulation on UMTS IuB and LTE S1 interfaces
  • Up to 20 eNB simulated per test module
  • Up to 10 MME/UPE simulated per test module
  • up to 200,000 mobile subscribers per test module, including up to 200,000 active Contexts
  • Up to 1,000 consecutive calls with active bearer, or 50,000 calls signaled

TTCN-3

TTCN is currently being integrated into the Nexus 8610 platform. This is used for load test scenario construction and execution. It is also used for protocol simulation in the Nexus 8610 Node B Simulator. TTCN technology is brought to Nexus Telecom through their partnership with Testing Technologies GmbH, the leader in TTCN-3 test platforms.

This technology will, for the first time, uniquely allow any complex protocol exchange, such as Supplementary Services – currently scripted in TTCN – to be run at high traffic volumes for load testing.

TTCN will also be used for overall synchronization of the two test platforms proposed here:

  • LTS/AIS
  • Nexus 8610

Testing Technologies GmbH is another test vendor principal of Teraquant Corporation.

Teraquant possesses in-depth experience in TTCN-3 test case construction.
